Short deposit interest rates continue to decline

According to operative data of NBU as of January 23, 2013 there was UAH 30,570 bn on the correspondent accounts of Ukrainian banks in NBU. The liquidity growth of the system pushed the banks to the normalization of interest rates on deposits of individuals. During the week from 16 January to 23 January it was fixed the record quantity of changes in interest rates by the banks, whose deposit rates were monitored. The 14 banks from among the 51 banks changed about 60 interest rates, 26 of which are in national currency, 16 – in USD and 18 – in euro. Interest rates increased and decreased that resulted in the gradual normalization of the ratio between short and long interest rates. Indicative rates SDR-50 in UAH, USD and EUR for the 12 months increased, and for the 3 and 6 months – decreased. But the main result of the week, after 7 weeks of superiority, became a three-month SDR-50 in hryvnia to the level of the semi-annual SDR-50.
