14-12-2020
December 14, 2020 Rating agency “Standard-Rating” (Ukraine) summed up the results of its thirty first «Reliability rating of banking deposits». The results of the 9 months of 2020 indicate that the Ukrainian banking system confidently demonstrates the first signs of the economic crisis impact, which appeared due to virus COVID-19. Total volume of the banks’ profit after taxation for the 9 months of 2020 year amounted to almost UAH 37,6 bn, UAH 15,974 bn. of which were earned for the first quarter. The volume of net interest income exceeded UAH 62,067 bn, and the volume of net commission income — UAH 32,324 bn. If we compare with the indicators of the 9 months of 2019 year, the banks’ profit decreased in 1,3 times, net interest income and net commission income remained almost unchanged. The 32 banks from the 56 ones, which participated in the rating, showed the NPL level decrease (the share of problem loans in the loan portfolio), none of the 56 banks had a negative net interest income or even losses. The banks demonstrated a downward trend of profitability, although the operating income indicators remained more or less stable, against the background of the decrease in interest rates on loans and deposits.
