The results of the 9 months of 2024 indicate that the banking system of Ukraine gradually continued to reduce liquidity against the background of growth in the volume of deposits, while the trend towards increasing profitability remained. As well as according to the results of 2023, the highest profitability indicators were shown by banks that preferred NBU deposit certificates and ISLBs. In the first half of 2024, the quality of banks’ loan portfolios stopped declining and in the third quarter this process continued for many banks. As of October 1, 2024, the average share of non-performing loans (NPL) in the portfolio of banks in the banking system of Ukraine was 32.34%, compared to 37.35% at the beginning of the current year. As predicted by the Agency, the level of NPLs in the loan portfolio of banks has stabilized and the quality of the portfolios is gradually improving, including under the influence of the growth of new loans.
